LEWISBERRY Joseph J. Raz Rados, 86, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Harrisburg Hospital. He was the husband of Jane (Musselman) Rawlinson Rados to whom he was married for eight years on June 29, 2010.A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 West Front Street, Lewisberry. A viewing will be held from 11-12:00 Noon Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Tri County Memorial Gardens with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard.Born October 7, 1924 in Steelton, a son of the late John and Helen (Gustin) Rados, he was a 1942 graduate of Steelton High School. Mr. Rados had worked at the former Olmstead Air Force Base in Middletown and also worked at the US Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Raz was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching Penn State Football; going to the horse races; and had been a semi-pro basketball player with the Hagerstown Owls. He loved to cook and was known for his carpentry skills as he built many homes in the area.Mr. Rados was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII, where he served in the Burma-India campaign by supplying air support for Merrills Marauders.In addition to his wife, Mr. Rados is survived by a sister, Helen R. Negley of Harrisburg; several stepchildren and step grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and a sister.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
