Joseph H. Blazina, Sr.

FLEMINGTON - Joseph H. Blazina, Sr., 63, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital. He was born September 7, 1953 in Lock Haven a son of the late Frank & Theo (Miller) Blazina. Joseph was married to the former Deanna L. DeGarmo on May 1, 1976 they celebrated 41 years of marriage together. He worked as a corrections officer at SCI Rockview for 17 years retiring in 2008. Joseph served in the Army. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 21 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a 1971 graduate of Lock Haven High School. Surviving are his wife; a son Joseph H. (Cindi) Blazina, Jr. of Lock Haven and a daughter Jamie L. (John) Henry of Flemington. Six grandchildren Rachel, Justin, Maggie, Nathaniel, Alonzo and Hayes. Four brothers Frank T. Blazina of State College, Timothy L. Blazina and Terry L. Blazina both of Lock Haven and Skip Blazina of Castanea also three sisters Carol Ruggiers of Lock Haven, Linda L. Albright of Pine Grove Mills and Debra A. Smith of Castanea. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Workman and a brother Stephen Blazina. Private services will be held for the family with burial at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
