Joseph F. Barner

RENOVO - Joseph F. Barner, 67, of Shintown, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Bucktail Medical Center Emergency Room after being stricken at home. He was born April 17, 1946 in Renovo the son of the late Joseph M. and Helen M. (Heinrich) Barner. Joseph was married to the former Ellen M. Watt on August 11, 1972. They celebrated 40 years of marriage together. He worked for PennDot as a surveyor retiring in 2001 after 35 years. Joseph was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Renovo and attended Hyner United Methodist Church. He graduated from the former Williamsport Area Community College. His memberships include Elks, Son’s of Italy, Eagles, and Masonic Lodge #495 all of Renovo. He was a member of Chapman Twp., Fire Company. Joseph enjoyed fishing, traveling, NASCAR, Penn State football, wrestling and he was a Jeff Gordon fan. Surviving are his loving wife Ellen, one brother Dennis (Joyce) Barner of Cross Fork one sister Marjorie (George) Patterson of New Jersey also numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Hyner United Methodist Church, Hyner with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Chapman Twp., Fire Company, 79 Park Ave., North Bend, PA 17760 or the Clinton County S.P.C.A., 33 Mill Hill Road, Lock Haven, PA 17745. Interment will be private at Germania Cemetery. Maxwell Funeral Home, Renovo has charge of arrangements.
