Joseph Calvin Kanouff, Sr.

RENOVO - Joseph Calvin Kanouff, Sr., 94, of Farwell passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Bucktail Medical Center, S. Renovo. He was born in West Decatur, PA on July 19, 1923 a son of the late Richard and Minnie Mae (Douglas) Kanouff. He was married to the former Janet J. Casper who died Sept., 2, 2014. They celebrated 68 years of marriage together. Joseph worked for Piper in Renovo for 15 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He was an Army Veteran of WWII where he served in the 164th Engineer Combat Battalion. Surviving are two sons; Joseph (Joann) Kanouff, Jr. of Westport and Charles (Sue) Kanouff of E. Renovo and four daughters Connie (Joe) Edwards of Carrollton, GA, Carole Anderson and Betty Sockman both of Farwell and Michelle (Rob) Stewart of W. Renovo. 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. One brother Roy (Peg) Kanouff of Haneyville and a sister Alverta Yednak of Florida. He was preceded in death by four brothers Elsie Kanouff, Willard Kanouff, Ray, Kanouff and Harry Kanouff also three sisters Sarah Stroup, Rachael Singer and Alice Yednak. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Maxwell Funeral Home 205 Fifth Street, Renovo with Martha Sykes officiating. Interment will be private at North Bend Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Bucktail Medical Center in his memory.
