Joseph A. Weismiller Joseph A. "Bop" Weismiller, 91, of Pottsville, passed into eternity on his birthday, Sunday March 25th, at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville. Joe was born in Pottsville on March 25, 1916. He was the son of the late Oliver and Ellen Wixted Weismiller. He graduated from Pottsville High School in 1934 and then attended Penn State University. Joe retired from Equifax, Inc., after 35 years of service. He was most recently was employed by the Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., Pottsville. Joe was a proud veteran having served in the Army during World War II where he received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He was an active member of many organizations including the Pottsville Catholic War Vets, Post 1051, Pottsville VFW, Post 129, member of the Pottsville Joint Veterans Council Firing Squad and Secretary of the Pottsville Joint Veterans Council, Pottsville American Legion, Post 371. Joe was a past member of the Board of Directors of S.C.O.P and was inducted in the Chapel of the Four Chaplains. He was the publicity director for the Anthracite Bowl, Past President of the Pottsville Wrestling Association. Joe was the Secretary of the Schuylkill County Relays, the Pottsville Midget Football League & Pottsville Rotary Little League. He was the MC for the Pottsville Rotary Little League. Joe was inducted into the Allen-Rogowicz Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame as an Honorary Member in 1989. He was inducted into the PAHS all sports Hall of Fame in 1998 as an Honorary Member. He enjoyed walking, traveling, gardening and dancing. Joe was preceded in death by his two brothers, Vincent and Charles Weismiller. Bop's family meant the world to him. He is survived by his selfless and loving wife of 56 years, Jean Maley Weismiller, Pottsville; his daughter Jane Yeasted, wife of Jerry, Pottsville; his daughter Judy Weiss, wife of Glenn, CA and his son, Mark Weismiller, husband of Linda, NJ; Joe has nine caring Grandchildren, Nathan, Bethany, Sarah and Daniel Yeasted, Ryan and Kevin Weiss and Melanie, Scott and Julie Weismiller. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Church, Pottsville. Friends may from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass at the Church. Private interment will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions be made to either Covenant Home Care, 1510 Highway 61 South, Pottsville, PA 17901, or St. Patrick's Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901. The Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., Pottsville is in charge of arrangements.
