YOE - Joseph A. Strobeck, 90, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Kathryn E. (Smith) Strobeck. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday September 15, 2008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Rev. Dr. Charles W. Salisbury officiating. Full military honors will be provided by Dallastown American Legion Honor Guard. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Yoe Union Cemetery. Born February 18, 1918 in Red Lion a son of the late Robert E. and Iva (Stine) Strobeck, he was a 1935 graduate of Red Lion High School. Mr. Strobeck was a purchasing agent for AMP, Inc. and retired after more than 20 years of service. He also was co-owner of Strobeck's Sporting Goods Store and spent 20 years assisting his sons in their automobile businesses, Strobeck's and Yoe Service stations. He was a life member and very active at Yoe Fire Company; charter member of Izaak Walton League 67; founding member of Boy Scouts of America, Troop 53 in Yoe; and was a member of the National Rifle Assoc.,Dallastown American Legion, Post 605; attended Bethany U.M. Church in Red Lion; and was a former member of Christ U.M. in Yoe. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII, having taken part in the Normandy Invasion, and was the recipient of numerous valor medals including the Purple Heart. Mr. Strobeck is survived by two sons, Joseph R. and wife Diane Strobeck and Robert A. and wife Cindy Strobeck all of Yoe; five grandchildren, Kimberly Seitz, Michele and husband Greg Pugh, Daniel S. and wife Jennifer Strobeck, Ryan and wife Heather Murphy, and Emily and husband Clint Neff; eight great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hal Strobeck. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Izaak Walton League 67, 7131 Ironstone Hill Road, Dallastown, PA 17313 or to York Cancer Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Rd, Suite 194, York, PA 17403.
