FELTON- John Wilbur Gross, 88, of Windsor Township, died peacefully Monday, November 4, 2013 at his residence in Felton. He was the husband of Dauris M. (Crawford) Gross. They were married 59 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a viewing from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be private in St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Brogue. John was born May 20, 1925, the son of the late John E. and Sadie C. (Kline) Gross. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He learned the masonry trade from several local masons before he became self-employed as a mason contractor in 1960 until his retirement in 1990, when his son, Steven took over the business. In addition to his business he also farmed his land. He was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brogue. John is survived by his wife , Dauris, his five children: Kathleen and her husband Dennis Dobbie, Kenneth and his wife Karen, Linda and her husband Bradley Hall, Steven and his wife Ellyn, and Jane Fogle, his three granddaughters: Candice, Alyssa, and Emily Gross, and his two sisters: Doris Heyne and Phyllis Hess and her husband Ralph. John was preceded in death by his brother, Luther Gross. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Evangelical Church, 2335 Cramer Road, Brogue, PA 17309.
