John W. Jack" Burnham

John W. "Jack" Burnham, Jr., 77, of Troy, PA passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at home. He was the husband of Frances M. (Sargent) Burnham who passed away in 1980. Family and friends are welcome to call from 2:00-3:45 P.M. on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. A Masonic service will be held at 3:45 P.M. The memorial service to honor Jack's life will be held Saturday at 4:00 P.M. Officiating will be Rev. Kenneth Marple of the Olde Covert Church. Jack was born June 29,1929 in Troy Township, Bradford County, PA. He was the son of the late J. Wallace and Millicent (Kittle) Burnham. Jack was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1946. He was Protestant by faith. Jack was a retired farmer, postal rural route carrier, hauled hay and straw to and from New York state farms for several years, and delivered gasoline for Van Dyne Oil before finally retiring in 1998. He was a 55-year member of the Free & Accepted Masons Trojan Lodge #306 and was a Past Master of the lodge, and was an over 50-year member of the Troy Grange. Jack made many friends and acquaintances over the years on the delivery routes, restaurants, and coffee shop stops. He loved to have a conversation with anyone along his journey to hash over old times, places, family, friends, neighbors, relatives, farming, tractors and machinery, snowmobiles, hunting or just anything you could think of. Jack is survived by his two daughters, Brenda (Jeff) Brewer and Linda Burnham, both of Troy, PA, three grandchildren, Tracy (Jim) Jenkins, Ryan Brewer, and Stephen Burnham, one great granddaughter, Kendal Jenkins; three aunts, Jean Kennedy, Doris K. McClure, and Fannie Ingerick, along with several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances, and his sister Claire B. Young.
