John W. Francis

RENOVO - John W. Francis, 64, passed away, Sunday evening, March 30, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born in Renovo on June 21, 1949 a son of the late Warren and Dorothy (Cowher) Francis. John was married on Sept. 18, 1971 to the former Sandra M. Friel. They celebrated 42 years of marriage together. He worked as a welder for many years in Renovo and retired from High Steel. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW, Elks, Son’s of Italy, American Legion and Moose all of Renovo. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Surviving are his loving wife; two sons Warren G. (Billie Jo) Francis, II of Hyner and John Michael (Amy) Francis of Avis also three daughters; Connie (Steve) Smith of Zion, Katrina Fischer of Jersey Shore and Carrie Ann (D.J.) Perry of Renovo and 11 grandchildren. Three brothers Jesse and Jeff both of North Bend and Jerry of Hyner and two sisters Judy Butler of Muncy and Janice Laubscher of Jersey Shore. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson Jayden John-Colt Fischer and a special mother-in-law Mary Anna Friel. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Maxwell Funeral Home of Renovo has charge of arrangements.
