John W. Dillman

YORK - John W. "Jack" Dillman, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, died Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 1 a.m. at his home in York, PA. He was 85. He was the husband of Marjorie J. (Murphy) Dillman, who survives him, and with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage January 23, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2007 at Heffner Funeral Chapel, 1551 Kenneth Street, York, PA. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, with gravesite military rites conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Reverend Debra Volker. Mr. Dillman was born March 11, 1921 in Frackville, PA. He was the son of the late Frank and Beulah (Schumber) Dillman. Mr. Dillman retired after 29 years as a Financial Analyst at Borg Warner Corporation, predecessor of York International Corporation. Mr. Dillman was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, completing 44 missions as a B24 Pilot in the Southwest Pacific Theater during WWII. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Frackville High School, Class of 1938, and of Penn State University, Class of 1949. Mr. Dillman was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. A sister, Doris M. Wilds, and a brother, Robert N. Dillman, preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Thomas John, of New York, NY, and Richard Alan of Fort Lauderdale, FL, as well as by one daughter, Nancy A. Klahold of Seven Valleys PA. ,seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and one great granddaughter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 150 Jefferson Avenue, York, PA 17404.
