John T. Livingston

YORK- John T. Livingston, 54, died Friday, September 5, 2008. He was the husband of Deanna L. (McGill) Livingston. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Rev. Timothy Seitz- Brown officiating. A visitation will be from 1 to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. John was born in York on October 1, 1953, a son of the late George W. and Rose Ida (Peterson) Livingston. He was a 1971 graduate of West York High School. He continued his education at Penn State University- York receiving his associates degree in Mechanical Engineering and Penn State University- Harrisburg receiving his bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering. While there, he was a member of the fraternal organizations, Alpha Sigma Lambda and Phi Kappa Phi. John married Deanna McGill on August 29, 1979. He was last employed as a sales engineer at ACCO. John loved music and played the electric bass guitar. He carried on this musical tradition from his father.He was a former member of the American Musicians Union. He was in several bands with his friends such as RPM, Liquid Smoke, Whiz Kids, String Kings, Noiz Boyz and Swamp Monster. John was also a classic car buff and he enjoyed his BMW Z3. He was also very fascinated with history, electronics, and anything scientific. In addition to Deanna, John is survived his son, Blake A. Livingston of San Fransisco,CA of whom he was exceedingly proud; a brother, George H. Livingston and his wife Marie of Miami, FL; a sister, Carole A. Brenner of York; brothers-in-law, Stanley Brenner and Andrew G. McGill and his wife Shelli; sisters-in-law, Susan M. Seiple, Martha A. McGill, and Julie A. McGill-Kopp and her husband Michael. Also surviving are his nephews, Jay and Matthew Kopp; nieces, Amy Heltzel and Kathy Brenner; numerous great nieces and nephews; and close family friend, Lt. Benjamin Vogelsong. Preceding him in death is a brother-in-law, Ira Leon McGill, III. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colonial House, Inc., 1300 Woodberry Rd., York, PA 17408.
