LITITZ—John T. Grumbine, 102 years old, passed away Monday March 8, 2021 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret V. (Parker) Grumbine and the late Elizabeth E. (Merrick) Grumbine. A public viewing will be held from 9-10AM Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. A private Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow. Burial will also be private in Greenmount Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating the service will be Carl George, former pastor of Hope Fellowship. All current Covid-19 guidelines and capacity restrictions will be followed. The Celebration of Life Service will also be livestreamed on our Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., Facebook page at www.facebook.com/heffnertributes/live for anyone wishing to view the service. Born March 31, 1918 in Waynesboro, Franklin Co.PA, he was a son of the late Ira Grumbine Sr., and Clara M. (Provard) Grumbine. He was employed as a Corporate Manager with McCrory McLellan and Green for 20 years until his retirement in 1987. A proud United States Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, he was also an avid ballroom dancer and member of the Arthur Murry Dance Studio in York, Harrisburg and Lancaster. He was also a member the Japanese-American Club in Lancaster and a Lay Minister with the former Hope Fellowship, where he also served as a pastoral counselor. Above all, he was a beloved father and dedicated grandfather to multi-generations and a man of faith. Mr. Grumbine is survived by one son, John T. Grumbine, II and his wife, Theresa Swenson PhD; two daughters, Jo Anne Boyd and husband, Alfred and Penelope P. Grumbine Hornock; four grandchildren, Thomas A. Boyd, Julia A. Serrano, Graham S. Hornock and Elaine L. Schade; four great grandchildren, Genesis A. Boyd, Sophia Schade, Madeline C.Smith and Jesse J. Serrano, III; one great-great grandchild, Atreus J. Smith; one brother, Ira Grumbine Jr., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James T. Grumbine. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge, 33 Teen Challenge Rd, Rehrersburg, Pa 19550.
