York – John Seneca Moran, 87, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Frances “Fran” (Bass) Moran. The couple had been married for 38 years. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Certified Celebrant, Kasie J. Watkins officiating and full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Born on October 19, 1928 in York, he was a son of the late Peter C. and Anna V. (Battey) Moran. John was a police officer for the Baltimore City Police Department until his retirement. Mr. Moran was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Baltimore Retired Police Benevolent Association, Police Emerald Society of Baltimore, American Legion Post #20 in Baltimore and the Yankee Rebels Drum Corps. In addition to his wife, Fran, Mr. Moran is survived by two sons, Michael P. Moran and wife, Linda of Frizzleburg, Md. and John C. Moran and wife, Patricia of New Windsor, Md.; five daughters, Mary P. “Trish” Reilly and husband, Tim of Fallson, Md., Dawn Stover of Bel Camp, Md., Theresa Blum and husband, Jeff of Charlotte, N.C., Angela Lucas of Westminster, Md., and Pam Gorman and husband, Tom of New Freedom; 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Raymond Moran and wife, Roz of Hot Springs, N.C.; and four nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Klimpel; a son, Kenny Adams; and a sister-in-law, Helen Moran.
