John R. Oldt

POTTSVILLE- John R. Oldt, 85, of Manheim Township, passed away Monday morning at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on September 28, 1925, he was a son of the late John and Marion Haffey Oldt. John worked for Capitol Airlines, San Francisco, as a machinist in his younger years. He retired from the former Doehler-Jarvis, Stowe, after 23 years of employment. For the last 10 years he worked as a landscaper for Penn State University, Schuylkill Campus, Schuylkill Haven. He attended Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Schuylkill Haven. He was an avid gardener. John was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Lacey; his brother, Edward Oldt. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ella M. Thomas Oldt, Manheim Township; his two daughters, Darryl Oldt, of Petersburg, VA, and Adrienne Feeley, wife of William, of Prospect Park, PA; his two grandchildren, Laurel and Cassandra Feeley; his sister, Alice Berkheiser, of Pottsville; his two brothers, Albert Lacey, husband of Virgie, of Minnesota, and Richard Lacey, of Upper Darby, PA; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, 9 Jefferson and Earl Stoyer Drive, Schuylkill Haven. Pastor Robert Stahl will officiate. Family and friends may call on Thursday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and also on Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Interment will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Family and friends may gather for a procession to the cemetery at Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & West Market Streets, Pottsville at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday morning.
