WINFIELD, PA - John R. Johnson, 57, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was the husband of Emily F. [Foust] Johnson. The couple has been married since August 9, 2003. Born May 7, 1949 in Marion, Ohio, John was the son of the late Virgil and Ruthella [Drake] Johnson. He was employed for seven years with Kuhns Bros. Log Homes, Lewisburg as a log home designer and salesman until sickness forced him to stay at home. John was a renaissance man, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had triumphed over heart and lung problems for several years. John painted pictures and managed galleries. He also made and played Indian Courting Flutes. John never stopped learning, never stopped testing and stretching the boundaries of life, time, sound, and love. A celebration of Life service will be held 3pm Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Susquehanna Valley on Route 11, Northumberland, with the Rev. Ann Keeler Evans officiating. The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, Inc., 125 N. Front St., Milton is in charge of the arrangements. In addition to his wife, Emily, John is survived by a daughter, Abby (Cooper) and her husband, Daniel Duval of Hubert, NC; a stepson, Daniel McPhilemy and his fianc褠, Amy Crawshaw of Harrisburg; a grandson, Keagan Matthew Duval; a sister, Maryanne and her husband, Ken Rutter of Hendersonville, NC; and a host of close and loving friends. Memorial contributions may be made in John's honor to the Youth and Militarism Program, American Friends Services Committee, 1501 Cherry St., Philadelphia, PA 19120.
