John R. 'Jack' Kopp, Jr.

John R. “Jack” Kopp, Jr., 71, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Geraldine A. “Gerri” (Wiley) Kopp to whom he was married for 37 years. A viewing will be held from 1-3:00 PM Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Burial will be private at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born March 31, 1943 in Lancaster, a son of the late Helen (Landis) Kopp and late John R. Kopp, Sr., he retired from Caterpillar Inc. after more than 30 years of service. Following his retirement, he also worked for U-Haul where he earned their “Top Dog” award. Jack was a member of Living Word Community Church, VFW, and Caterpillar retirees group. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. In addition to his wife, Mr. Kopp is survived by three sons, James “Jimmy” Kopp of Poplar Bluff, MO, William “Billy” and wife Jennifer Landis of York, and Andrew W. and wife Katie Kopp of Stewartstown; two daughters, Ann Arnold of Cahokia, IL, and Brandy J. and husband Gregg Canoy of McKinney, TX; 16 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Kopp of York; and his mother in law, Valencia Wiley of York. He was preceded in death by a son, John R. “Johnny” Kopp, III.
