John R. Hood

POTTSVILLE- John R. Hood, 47, of Pottsville, passed away on Friday at Geisinger Hospital, Dannville. Born in Pottsville on May 4, 1965, he was a son of the late Oscar R. Hood, who passed away in 1993 and Margaret “Ruby” Ryan Hood, of Pottsville. John was a 1983 graduate of Pottsville High School. John most recently worked as an account manager at Sands Ford, Pottsville, where he has worked for the past 13 years. John was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed traveling, cooking and gardening. John was a member of West End Hose Company, No. 7, Pottsville. In addition to John’s mother, Margaret “Ruby” Ryan Hood, of Pottsville, he is survived by his two brothers, Michael A. Hood, husband of Francine, and Dr. Thomas J. Hood, husband of Michelle, of Ashland; his uncle, Francis “Frank” Ryan, of Pottsville; his three aunts, Anna Rausch, of Pottsville, Patricia Ryan,wife of Henry, of Orwigsburg, and Patricia Ryan, of Saint Clair; his niece and nephew, Nicole and Brandon Hood, of Frackville; his cousin, Jane Barrett, of Frackville. Private graveside services will be held in Mount Laurel Cemetery, Bull’s Head, Pottsville.
