John Oliver Urey

AIRVILLE-John Oliver Urey, 81 of Lower Chanceford Township, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 at his residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a viewing from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Chaplain Don Alspaugh will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York, with full military honors by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Urey was born in Lower Chanceford Township on May 16, 1940, the son of the late Harry and Pauline (Reynolds) Urey. He worked at Caterpillar and was co-owner of the former K&J Die Company, and then retired in 2001 as a truck driver for J.P. Donmoyer. Mr. Urey was a member of Dry Run American Legion Post 232. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors and nature. He served in the US Army. Mr. Urey leaves two sons, John Urey of Airville and Jason Urey and his fiancé, Jessica Rutherford of York; three daughters, Roxann Todaro and her companion Mike Horan of York, Kimberly Neeper of Red Lion, and Robin Horton and her husband Joseph of Brogue; a step daughter, Tina Baker and her husband Russ Robinson of Red Lion; four grandchildren, Danielle, Philip, Eric Shane, and Leann and numerous great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Roy Urey; and three sisters, Mary Lou Scott, Betty Fantom, and Hattie Urey. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Urey; a daughter, Susan Urey; a grandson, Douglas Urey; two brothers, Harry and Melvin Urey; and a sister, Janet Overmiller.
