John Olewiler, Jr.

YORK- John Olewiler Jr., 79, passed away Sunday June 8, 2014 at his residence. He was the companion of Flo Marie (Kilgore) Jones and husband of the late Mary Jane (Haydan) Olewiler. Services were private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements. Born March 31, 1935 in York, John was a son of the late John W. and Theda A. (Wagner) Olewiler. He was self employed in lawn and garden care since 1957. John loved to sing gospel and play his guitar. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door Gospel Jam and would frequently play at local nursing homes. He also enjoyed bowling and gambling at the casinos, especially Atlantic City. He had a soft heart for helping people in need. John was always smiling. His smile will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his companion of 12 years, Flo, Mr. Olewiler is survived by a brother, Robert W. Olewiler and his wife Peggy of Harrisburg; four sisters, Martha Jane Sterner and her fiancé Barry Warner of York, Betty Frey of York, Dorothy Rickrode of Littlestown and Helen Kessler of Hanover. Along with his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Edward Dean Olewiler; a brother, Tex Olewiler and two sisters, Elaine Chandler and Beatrice Jones.
