Stewartstown—John L. Harner, 37, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at his residence in Stewartstown Borough.
A celebration of life service will be held 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with the Rev. John B. Ferra of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brogue, officiating. A visitation will be held following the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
Born July 25, 1971 in York, he was the son of Vicki L. Bode and her husband Steven of New Bridgeville and Scott Harner and his wife Patsy of Montana and biological son of John L. Snyder of York.
After graduating from Red Lion High School in 1989, his love for music lead him to Orlando, FL. He attended and graduated from the Full Sail School for the Recording Arts. John was such a skilled musician he taught himself to play the guitar, banjo and mandolin. He also enjoyed the outdoors, being in the woods and especially hiking. John was extremely proud and an avid fan of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.
He was employed with various HVAC companies in the area.
In addition to his parents, John is survived by one son, Spencer C. Burke of Winterstown, one daughter, Sadie L. Burke-Harner of Winterstown, three brothers, Joshua Harner and his wife Shallie of TX, and Owen and Avery Snyder both of York, two sisters, Shannon Snyder of York and Katie Harner-Parker and her husband Paul, of Montana, maternal grandparents, Donald and Reba Berwager of New Bridgeville, paternal grandmother, Jean Harner of York, paternal grandmother, Hazel Snyder of Dallastown, two step-sisters, Tara L. Remines of Loganville and Dana L. Bode of York, several nieces and nephews and many special aunts and uncles who loved him deeply. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfathers, Richard Harner and Glen Snyder.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Harner Children's Memorial Fund, C/O Sovereign Bank, 880 W. Broadway, Red Lion, Pa 17356.
