John L. Colucci, Sr.

LOCK HAVEN - John L. Colucci, Sr., 86, of McElhattan passed away at home on Oct., 25, 2018 as he wished. He arrived home within minutes from the Jersey Shore Hospital with his son to fulfill his final wish. John was an avid Penn State football fan and a Red Sox fan as well. He did not like the Steelers, Philadelphia was his team. When not watching sports, he could be watching any of the Outdoors Channels. He was an avid reader as well. He enjoyed hunting and horseback riding; an expert marksman he bagged countless deer, turkeys and several bear over his lifetime. He served in Germany during the Korean war as an MP and artilleryman. He worked and retired from Piper Aircraft. He was a coin and antique dealer most of his life as well, operating an antique shop on Henderson Street during the 1970’s and a Sports Card and Collectable store on Main Street during the 1990’s. He had encyclopedic knowledge of coins, antiques and firearms. In 1964 he and Randy Renzo formed The Clinton County Collectors Club. Their first coin show was held at the Fallon Hotel in 1964, drawing a crowd from all over the US. The legendary Hunt Brothers, silver barons out of Texas were in attendance. John was a jack of all trades and a master of many. He was quick with a practical joke and witty retorts. Survived by son John Jr., and daughter-in-law Carol also daughter Mary Ann Colucci. A son Michael preceded him in death this past May. Grandchildren, John Colucci 3rd, Derek, Brooks, and Jessica Colucci. Mindy Laubscher, Jacob Laubscher, Jesse Colucci, Angela Colucci and Andrew Cummings. Greg Marshall, Mike Marshall, Nikki Marshall, and Sierra Colucci. Several great grandchildren. John’s siblings include sisters Helen Elliot, Carol Bowes, Jeannie Styers, and Elizabeth Lucas who was also a caregiver to John, Marie Campana (dec.), Margaret Smith (dec.). and Rose Spicer (dec.). Brothers Charles, Paschal, Jimmy (dec.), and Joseph (dec.). This large Italian family kept John’s parents Josephine “Peppy” Renzo and Giovanni Batiste Colucci busy in Lock Haven’s First Ward back in the day. A special thank you to Fred and Betty English, John’s next-door neighbors for their constant “checking-in” and bringing joy to John these last 7 months. John was a prayerful man who spoke to God on a daily basis throughout his day. Memorial donations in John’s name can be made to the SPCA, Wounded Warriors, or the Divine Providence Hospice in Williamsport, PA. There will be no funeral services or visitation as per his request.
