John Joseph Rahilly

YORK – John J. Rahilly, 73, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Kathleen M. (Boidy) Rahilly to whom he was married for 22 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with his brother in law, The Rev. Rick Whitesel officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Grace United Church of Christ Cemetery, Taneytown, MD immediately following the service. Born November 18, 1942 in Carlisle, a son of the late James and Catherine (O’Connor) Rahilly, he was a 1960 graduate of Carlisle High School and a 1973 graduate of Shippensburg University where he earned his B.S. degree in Accounting. Mr. Rahilly retired as EVP/CFO of Brookstone, Inc. in 1996, prior to that he had served in executive level positions as President, COO, and CFO with Hess’s Dept. Stores, Inc. in Allentown, The Bon-Ton Dept. Stores, and The May Dept. Stores in Youngstown, OH. John volunteered with SCORE in York and enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He was a Civil War buff and along with his wife, Kathleen loved touring battlefields. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rahilly is survived by two sons, Luke J. and Jake H. Rahilly both at home; a daughter, Lyn M. Rahilly of Springfield, VA; two brothers, Mike Rahilly of Land O’ Lakes, FL and Steve Rahilly of Jacksonville, FL; four sisters, Mary Shay of Carlisle, PA, Kathleen Wolfe of Tampa, FL, Elizabeth Rahilly of Mt. Joy, PA, and Theresa Whitesel of Landisville, PA. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Rahilly.
