DOVER- John Jacob Heigl, 87, died on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Doris Ann (Runquist) Heigl. The couple celebrated their 57th on June 1st. A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Reverend Ray J. Newlin officiating. A viewing will be from 6-7 p.m. prior to the service. Born on March 17, 1926 in Bronx, NY on March 17, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Carolena (Schmid) Heigl. John was a maintenance foreman for Consolidated Edison, Inc. and worked in the nuclear plant until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Heigl served our country for two years in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of Countryside Fellowship Church in Dover. John was a member of the York Laryngectomy Club, the East Berlin Fish & Game Club and enjoyed hunting. Along with his wife, Doris, John is survived by one son, John Eric Heigl of York; three daughters, Janet Tursi and her husband, Vito of Stuart, FL, Linda Stout and her husband, David of West York and Karen DiNoto and her husband, John of Stockholm, NJ; two grandsons, Kenneth Senatore and his wife, Kellie and Christopher Senatore; two great grandchildren, Daniel and Giovanna Senatore; and two longtime friends, Alfred Kloiber and Daniel Ryan, both of Florida. He was preceded in death by an aunt and uncle, Anna and Joseph Schmid. Memorial contributions may be made to Countryside Fellowship Church, 1214 Big Mt. Rd., Dover PA 17315.
