John J. Smith, Sr.

RED LION – John J. Smith, Sr., 76, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of 53 years to the late Tressa Mae (Brown) Smith who passed away Jan. 7, 2014. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Rev. Dr. Eddie D.D. Miller officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday and 1-2:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Community Cemetery. Born March 9, 1939 in Windsor, a son of the late Clayton B. and Minnie F. (Frey) Smith, he retired from Colonial Metals in Columbia after more than 40 years of service. Mr. Smith enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his family and pets. Mr. Smith is survived by a son, John J. Smith, Jr. of Airville; a daughter, Joyce M. Smith of Red Lion; five grandchildren, Kyle and Pamela Smith, John, Misty and Corena Lake; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Clayton B. “Jim” Smith, Jr. of Windsor.
