John J. Sickler

TROY- John J. Sickler, 69, of Sylvania, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the Troy Community Hospital. He is the loving husband of Theodora "Teddi" (Taylor) Sickler. The couple married on October 19, 1956 and had 51 happy years together. Family and friends are invited to call from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. A memorial service to honor John's life will be announced at a later date and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. John was born on September 12, 1938 in Troy, PA. He is the son of Hila (Depew) Sickler Walcheski of Towanda and the late Leigh Gilbert Sickler. John was a 1956 Troy High School graduate, and after graduation worked in the hosiery mill and the woven label factory in Troy. He was a faithful member of the Austinville Union Church. In his younger days, John liked to bowl and hunt, but over the last few years loved to watch his grandchildren play in their sporting events. John is survived by his wife Teddi, his mother Hila, his sons Gregory W. (Connie) Sickler of Sylvania, PA, and David A. (Stacey) Sickler of Sayre, PA, his daughter Brenda L. (Dale) Boor of Columbia Crossroads, PA, fifteen grandchildren, one great granddaughter, his brothers Fred (Shelly) Walcheski of Sylvania, PA, and Gary (Connie) Dewey of Omaha, NE, his sister Elsie J. Collins of Alba, and several nieces and nephews. His infant son Alan Lee Sickler, and his stepfather John Walcheski, and his father and mother in-law Robert and Evelyn (Clark) Taylor predeceased John. Contributions may be made in John's memory to the Austinville Union Church, RR 1 Box 368 Troy, PA 16947 or to the American Diabetes Association, 501 N. 17th Street, Suite 212 Allentown, PA 18104.
