John J. Liebner

POTTSVILLE - John J. Liebner, 59, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday evening at Manor Care Health Services, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on August 1, 1950, he was a son of the late Fred J. and Anna Marie McMurtrie Liebner. He was a 1968 graduate of Nativity BVM High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era, serving in the Air Force. He was a member of the Church of Saint Patrick. He was employed by Eastern Press, Pottsville. On June 26, 1982, he married the former Barbara Purcell, of Pottsville. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Father David Liebner. Surviving in addition to his wife, Barbara, of 27 years are: two daughters, Teresa and Beth Liebner, both of Pottsville; two brothers, Fred and his wife Ann Marie Liebner, Pine Grove, and Mark and his wife Karen Liebner, Port Carbon; three sisters, Mary and her husband Charles Cagle, of Lake Wynonah, Anne and her husband Michael Liptock, Pottsville, and Jane and her husband, David Wallner, Exeter Township; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM at the Church of Saint Patrick, 4th & Mahantongo St., Pottsville. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:30 until time of service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville, is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be left in John's name to All Saints Catholic School, 7th & Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
