John J. Kelly

John 'Jack' J. Kelly, 58, of 837 North Center Street Pottsville, died Saturday morning at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born October 28, 1954 in Pottsville, he was the son of the late John J. Kelly, Sr. and the late Dorothy (Petrosky) Kelly. He was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School and a veteran of the US AirForce having served during the Vietnam Era in Thailand. He was attended the Salvation Army. He worked as a manager at the Coney Island, Yorkville and was later employed by Ateeco (Mrs. T's), Shenandoah. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Cheryl (Kull) Kelly, Pottsville; a daughter, Ashley Jo Kelly Gantt and her husband Karlton, Norfolk VA; sons, Phillip M. Hoptak, Pottsville and Tyler J. Hoptak, Johnstown PA; sisters, Constance Heffner, Lake Wynonah; Jacqueline Holtzer, Deer Lake; Deborah Kelly, Pottsville; Patricia Quinn, Schuylkill Haven; and Dorothy 'Cookie' Long, Reading. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Shane M. Hoptak; Kirsten E. Hoptak; Dominic P. Tassone; Olivia N. Tassone; Neveah R. Gantt; Charlee E. Tassone; Quantavious M. Gantt; Iyanna M. Gantt; Trevarious R. Gantt; and many loving nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday October 2 at 3PM at the Salvation Army of Pottsville, Major Kim Harris will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 2PM until the time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family would prefer memorial donations be made in John's name to The Educational and Scientific Trust of the Simon Kramer Institute 15 Alliance Street New Philadelphia PA 17959.
