John J. Breitigan

John J. Breitigan POTTSVILLE-John J. Breitigan, 89, of Pottsville, passed away Monday at his residence. Born in North Braddock, PA, on July 23, 1919, he was a son of the late Edward and Jennie Dunbar Breitigan. John was an Army artillery veteran having served during World War II, where he was involved in the Normandy invasion. He received a Bronze Star for his services. He retired from the former Dana Steel, Reading. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Pottsville. He was a member of the Hidden Valley Senior Golf League. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Breitigan; his two sisters, Marie Baron and Genevieve Wilkerson. John is survived by his wife, Anna Covach Breitigan, of Pottsville, to whom he was married 63 years on November 25; his three daughters, Lili Ann Roleanitis, Cheyenne, WY, Jennie M. Breitigan, of Orwigsburg, and Melanie E. Tonini, Fulshear, TX; his four sons, John M., of Cannonsburg, PA, Edward L., of Hamburg, PA, James A., of Cressona and Brian T. Breitigan, of Avondale, PA; his 10 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:00 A.M in St. Patrick's Church, Pottsville. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be held in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Hillside, Pottsville. Memorial contributions can be sent to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
