John Helbing Iii

YORK- John Helbing, III, 57, of Springettsbury Township, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Sandra L. (Duncan) Helbing. The couple celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on February 27. A Celebration of Life Service will be 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road in York. A visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Mr. Helbing was born August 5, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late John and Catherine (Hagie) Helbing. He was a 1968 graduate of Patapsco High School in MD, a graduate of the University of Maryland and continued his education at Essex Community College in Maryland. Until his retirement, Mr. Helbing worked as an Administrator of Pulmonary Medicine in the Baltimore, MD area. Mr. Helbing was a member of Free and Accepted Masons in Dundalk, MD and South Hill, VA and was very active in AARC and NBRC. He coached softball and had the pleasure of umpiring the World Series of Softball in Petersburg, VA. Mr. Helbing leaves behind two daughters, Erin K. Jones and husband, Bonner of Baytown, TX, and Allison M. List and husband, George of Mt. Wolf; three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Zachary, and Ethan; two brothers, Brian Helbing and David Helbing both of Maryland; and a sister Linda Ravindranath of Maryland. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association.
