John H. Swords, Sr.

WINDSOR- John H. Swords, Sr., 81, of Lower Windsor Township, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Manor Care Health Services South in York. He was the husband of the late Geraldine E. (Eckenrode) Swords. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. Burial will be in Freysville Zion United Methodist Cemetery. Mr. Swords was born in Henrystown, PA on August 22, 1929, a son of the late Millard and Elsie (Flinchbaugh) Swords. He retired after 54 years as a truck driver. Mr. Swords leaves a loving companion Doris Fisher; five sons, John H. Swords, Jr. of Jacobus, Ricky M. Swords of Crawfordsville, IN, Randy C. Swords of York, David P. Swords of Dover, and Rodney W. Swords of McSherrystown; two daughters, Kathy I. Miller of York and Barbara E. Sweitzer of Glen Rock; 22 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine Snyder and Margaret Wolf. He also leaves his loving companions children, Brenda Clinton and Glenda Perry and their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
