SPRINGETTSBURY TOWNSHIP- John H. Cooper, 88, of York died Friday, June 8, 2007 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Theda E. (Reeser) Cooper. A Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. on Monday at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1054 Ridgewood Rd., in York, with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. at the church. His pastor's, The Reverend James M. Walters and The Reverend Cathy H. Sherry will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Manchester Lutheran Cemetery for the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Cooper was born in York Haven on April 8, 1919, a son of the late George T and Annie (Steffy) Cooper. He retired from Shipley, Inc., in York and formerly worked for C.C. Kottcamp & Sons, Met-Ed Company, and Reeser's Transportation. He was a 1937-m graduate of William Penn High School and a graduate of Thompson Business School. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in York, Hawk's Gunning Club, Pleasureville American Legion #799, White Rose Lodge # 706 F.&A.M. He was a US Navy veteran who served during WWII. He leaves a friend, Dorothy V. Staszko of York, two sons: Dennis L. Cooper and John H. Cooper, both of York, a daughter, Sharon E. Baines of York, eight grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, George T. Cooper and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to: Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1054 Ridgewood Rd., York, PA 17402.
