LOCK HAVEN - John H. Cashner, 82, of Lock Haven died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at his residence with his niece Melodye by his side. Born June 29, 1932 in Lock Haven he was the son of the late Harry A. and Ruth (Toner) Cashner. John was married on July 19, 2008 to the former Gladys E. (Barton) Greene Cashner who died April 7, 2009. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1949 – 1952. John owned and operated the Sissy’s Country Lounge on route 150 and later opened The Haven House Restaurant on Grove Street. Earlier he worked for Piper Aircraft for 32 years. He was a member of First Church of Christ in Flemington. John was a member of the 40/8 and served as State Secretary. He was a member of the D.A.V., V.F.W. and American Legion Post #131 all of Lock Haven. John adored his dog “Lilly” a Jack Russell terrier. Surviving are four sons Donald Greene, David Greene, Fred P. Greene, III and Richard Greene all of Lock Haven and one daughter Judy (Nicholas) Kalvin of Naples, FL. 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. One sister Judy (Richard) Warg of Muncy and a brother Robert Welty of Pennsauken, NJ. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by two sisters Shirley Rhine and Jean Cashner also an infant brother Jimmy. The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Pastor Mark Riley officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral chapel Monday from 6 –8 p.m. Burial with military honors will be at Mt. Bethel Cemetery.
