John F. Sholly

MECHANICSBURG- John F. Sholly, 77, of Lower Allen Twp., died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his residence. He was the husband of Beverly Lucile (Spahr) Sholly. The couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on March 8th. There will be no viewing and burial will be private in Slate Hill Cemetery. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 W. Front Street in Lewisberry is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Sholly was born in Mechanicsburg on February 13, 1933, a son of the late Charles and Anna (Zimmerman) Sholly. He worked for Hershock's Inc. in Harrisburg, then for a few years at West Shore School District. Mr. Sholly was implemental in Lower Allen Little League Baseball for 17 years and the building of Wert Field, 1959-1976. He attended Mechanicsburg High School and was a founding member of Camp Twin Oaks Gun Club of Perry County. Mr. Sholly leaves two sons, Steven Sholly of Vienna, Austria and Keith Sholly of Lemoyne; and two daughters, Roxann Baker and her husband Donald of Lewisberry and Kim McMeans and her husband David of Lemoyne; six grandchildren, Craig Moose, Kendra and Geoffrey Sholly, Joseph and Kelly McMeans and John Sholly; and three great grandchildren, Amber Moose, Gannon McMeans, and Lilah Reagan. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, P.O. Box 266, Enola, PA 17025.
