John F. Doll

DOVER- John F. Doll, 74, died Tuesday March 6, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Phyllis E. (Flinchbaugh) Doll. A graveside tribute service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnuthill Rd., York, with the Rev. Kevin T. Shively officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Family & Friends are requested to be at the cemetery gates at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Doll was born July 8, 1933, a son of the late Henry and Leah (Strausbaugh) Doll. Mr. Doll served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and belonged to the American Legion, Shiloh Post# 791 and the VFW Post# 8951. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Doll looked forward to seeing his favorite college football team, Penn State Nittany Lions. Most of all, Mr. Doll was a huge Civil War buff. In addition to his wife, Phyllis, Mr. Doll is survived by a sister, Martha Emig and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his son, Mark Doll; a sister, Dolores Horn; and brothers, Henry, Ammon "Bud", and Fred Doll. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Church, 839 W. Market St., York, PA 17401 or the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
