DOVER - John Edward Jamison, 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Pauline L. (Smith) Jamison. The couple recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on October 21. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Ave., York with his Pastor, Ron Oelrich, officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Jamison was born on August 15, 1921, in Dover Twp., the son of the late Harry W. and Gertrude B. (Spangler) Jamison. John was a 1939 graduate of William Penn Sr. High School. He worked as a Machinist for the York Corporation for 43 years until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Jamison was a member of Faith United Church of Christ for over 70 years. John served our country for two years in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of AARP, the Dover Twp. Fire Co., Borg-Warner 25 year Club and the American Legion. Along with his wife, Pauline, Mr. Jamison is survived by a son, Jeffrey A. Jamison and his wife, Jackie of York; a daughter, Pamela J. Elicker and her husband, Tom of Dover; three grandchildren, Shannon Jamison, Josh Elicker and his wife, Melanie and Justin Elicker; a great granddaughter, Chaya Elicker; a sister, Mary Jane Kaczmarek of Hollidaysburg; and a nephew, Jon Kaczmarek. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah “Betty” Clark. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Church of Christ Living Memorials Fund, 509 Pacific Ave., York, PA 17404.
