John E. Watson

JACOBUS- John E. Watson, 78, died on Monday, December 25, 2023 at York Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Jolane O. (Boomhower) Watson to whom he was married 46 years.

A celebration of life service will possibly be held at a later date. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.

Born on December 23, 1945 in Altoona, he was the son of the late Harry and Mabel (Barr) Watson. John was a 1963 graduate of Hempfield High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, orchestra, band, dance band, Tennis Club and Math Club. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Penn State University. John worked as an accountant for Borg Warner and York International for 40 years until retiring in 2010.

Mr. Watson was a member of Salem Christian Church in Jacobus. Upon retiring, John enjoyed volunteering at the Stewartstown Railroad, bookkeeping for Salem Christian Church and traveling with his family.

Mr. Watson served our country in the United States Army Reserve for six years.

Along with his wife, Jolane, John is survived by two sons, Andrew S. Watson of Enola and David M. Watson of Odenton, MD. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew John Watson in 2018.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Christian Church, 24 Franklin St., Jacobus, PA 17407 or a favorite charity of choice in his memory.
