SHIPPENSBURG - John E. Sullivan, 64, and formerly of Williamsport, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Hospital of the University in Philadelphia. He was married to Iris J. (Burson) Sullivan on April 26, 2003 and who survives him. John was born in Orlando, Florida on March 20, 1944 and was a son of the late John E. "Bishop" and Edna O. (Green) Sullivan. He had retired from Penn Dott (Montoursville) on July 16, 1997 and then from Greyhound Bus Lines in July 2002. He was a talented musician and played the drums. He was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union #1700 and the Billtown Blues Association. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and singing the blues. John was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Williamsport, a former member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Bowie, MD and a current member of the St. Peter's AME Church in Shippensburg. In addition to his wife, Iris, John is survived by three sons; John Sullivan, Jr. of Philadelphia and Steve and Will Neely, both of Harrisburg, 4 daughters; Erica Thornton of Philadelphia, Elaine Coleman of Newark, DE and Miranda and Ashley Burson, both of Shippensburg, and two cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother. There will be a gathering of friends and family 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport with the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with the Reverend Charles V. Daniels officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando, Fl.
