John E. Sheets, Jr.

YORK- John E. Sheets, Jr., 83, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at York Lutheran Home. He was the husband of the late Regina L. (Eisenhart) Sheets. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2007. A Time of Gathering will be from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. Full military honors will be rendered by York County Veterans Honor Guard at 6 p.m. Mr. Sheets was born in York on September 15, 1925, a son of the late John E. and Cecelia E. (Harlaher) Sheets, Sr. He worked as a Loom Fixer for Orinoka, Tioga Textiles, and Keystone Weaving Companies in York. Mr. Sheets was a member of West York VFW Post 8951, Shiloh American Legion Post 791, York Moose Lodge 148, Royal Fire Company, BD Social Club, Reliance Fire Company, and Prince Athletic Association. He was a US Navy veteran who served in WWII. Mr. Sheets leaves two daughters, Terri C. Paxson and her husband Walter of York, and Kelli L. Herman and her husband Richard of York; five grandchildren, Schenley Slabonik, Baylee Herman, Loralie Herman, Coy Herman, and Abbey Paxson; and two sisters, Betty Kriner and Mary Jane Sheets, both of York.
