Dover – John D. Orris, 48, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was the husband of Jessica (Wells) Orris, to whom he was married to for 23 years. John was born in York on February 7, 1973 to John C. Orris and the late Mary E. (Knaub) Orris. He worked as a mechanic at BAE for 5 years and then Voith Turbo for the past 15 years. He was a past member of Paradise Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thomasville and St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ in York. He was the current President of the Mohawk Gun Club in Potter County and member of the Dover Fish and Game. Fishing and hunting were a big part of John’s life. He hunted around York County and Potter County. He enjoyed the trip to Maine with family for bear hunting and teaching his nephew, Wyatt, how to trap. John loved to fish and would often travel to Florida for some deep sea fishing. John lived life to the fullest, finding fun in everything he did. He enjoyed seeing the world on the many trips he took with his wife Jess. A hobby of his was working on old cars and being a jokester. A lot of his free time was dedicated to his family, especially his niece and nephew. He would make time to be present at their baseball games and gymnastic competitions, as well as take them out for fun activities. Family and friends were everything to John. John is survived by his loving wife, Jessica; sisters, Donna and Susan Orris; brother-in-law, Joshua Wells and wife, Katie; nephew, Wyatt; niece Kalli; in-laws, Jon and Glenda Wells; dogs, Charlie and Max; two cats and many extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 3 PM on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Officiating will be Pastor Larry McConnell. A viewing will be from 1-3 PM, at the funeral chapel.
