John C. “Jack” Bevan Obituary John C. “Jack” Bevan, 83, of Pottsville died Tuesday November 5, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born May 23, 1930 in Girardville, he was the son of the late John and Nellie Bevan. John attended Gilberton High School and was a member of St. Patrick RC Catholic, Pottsville and a member of the former St. Casimir RC Church, St. Clair. He was a lifetime member of the Humane Fire Co., Pottsville; the Knights of Columbus; the Minersville Senior Citizen’s Organization. He was also an avid Pottsville Area Crimson Tide Football Fan and attended every home and away game for the last 35 years with his brother-in-law and sidekick Mike Postick. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign War. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann M. “Tootsie” (Postick) Bevan in 2004. John is survived by a daughter Darlene wife of Dan Young, Pottsville; brothers Stanley Bevan, Frackville and Richard Bevan, Shamokin; a sister Patricia Walsh, New Jersey and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his grandchildren Taylor and Jordan Young, both of whom he loved very much. Not a week went by that the grandchildren didn't spend time with their 'Pop Pop'. They were the light of his life, and he serves as a good role model to them. He will be truly missed by his dog, “Buddy”, who never left his perch atop of his chair. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 o’clock Saturday November 9, 2013 at St. Patrick RC Church, Pottsville. Interment will be held in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery #2 Minersville. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6-8PM at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home and again from 11:30 to 12:30 Saturday morning at the funeral home.
