WILLIAMSPORT - John Carter Hewitt, died at age 77 on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Drexel Hill. He was born on January 12, 1937 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Ross and Rachel (Moore) Hewitt, Sr. John, known as ”J.C.” to his friends, was an entrepreneur and worked as a photographer, sales man, and carpenter over the years. John played competitive tennis, football, and basketball in both high school and the Army. He enjoyed cooking, singing and loved entertaining his family and friends. He had the gift to make anyone laugh and made friends wherever he went. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. John is survived by the love of his life, his companion of 49 years; Dorothy Winfree of White Plains, MD, one son and daughter-in-law; Corey and Natasha Floyd of Philadelphia, one daughter; Lacey Floyd of Williamsport, two step sons; Thurston Winfree of Las Vegas and Lewis Winfree of MD, one step daughter; Charmaine Winfree of Temple Hills, MD, one step granddaughter; Amber Winfree and one brother; Hubert Hewitt of Williamsport along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one daughter; Dara Walker and three brothers; Ross Hewitt, Jr., Mickey Hewitt and Robert Hewitt. A public viewing will be held 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 06, 2014 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport, followed by the funeral at 6:00 p.m.
