John C. Douglass

DOVER – John C. Douglass, 95, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jean M. (Ferree) Douglass to whom he married on March 26, 1944 and together shared 72 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Shiloh Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2201 Church Road, York with Rev. Kathy Swords officiating. A reception with the family will immediately follow the service. Private burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born March 24, 1921 in York, a son of the late Nelson and Nettie (Laucks) Douglass; John retired from Borg Warner Air Conditioning, Inc., with more than 38 years of service as an air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Dover. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR racing, puttering around the house and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Mr. Douglass is survived by a son, Stephen J. Douglass and wife Mary Ellen of York; a daughter, Kimberley D. Mann and husband Cris of State College. John was a very proud “Paw Paw” of three grandchildren, Rachel Douglass, John “Jack” Douglass, and Alec Mann. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Bentzel; and two brothers, Earl and William Douglass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, 2001 S.
