POTTSVILLE - John "Boots" Kishlo, 86, of Heritage Heights, died Friday evening at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville. Born in Minersville on October 22, 1922, he was a son of the late Theodore and Mary Sekellick Kishlo. He was a 1942 graduate of Minersville High School. After high school, Boots attended the United Aircraft School in Detriot, MI, and enlisted in the Air Force of the US Army. He was part of the European Air Offensive as an aerial gunner. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal with Oak leaf Clusters. He also earned four bronze stars and a silver star on his way to becoming a staff sergeant. Boots also went to the Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute were he became skilled in watch-making. Until retiring, he was employed as a maitre d'hotel at various hotels & resorts on the eastern seaboard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother Joseph Kishlo; and two sisters, Mary Searle and Helen Weissinger. Surviving Boots are: a sister, Ann Lescavage, Minersville; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private, held at the convenience of the family. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc. 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville, is handling the arrangements.
