LEWISBERRRY- John B. Rader, 83, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Joanne Catherine (Herman) Rader. The couple celebrated 48 happy years of marriage together. Born March 19, 1933 in Harrisburg, John was a son of the late Harry C. and Margaret (Hippensteel) Rader. He worked as a dockworker for Central Storage & Transfer Company for close to 30 years until his retirement. Mr. Rader was a member of Redland Valley Brethren in Christ Church where he enjoyed the fellowship of other male members. He was an amateur boxer in his youth. John loved spending time fishing and camping with his family. In addition to his wife, Joanne, Mr. Rader is survived by a son, William James Rader of Lancaster; three daughters, Patricia Ann Krol of York, Debra Jean Amsbaugh Rebinski and her husband Henry of Mechanicsburg and Lori Lynn McGarvey and her husband Dennis of Etters; nine grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter, a cousin, Sarah Jane Davidson, several other cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Kay LaMent; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Rader, a brother, Harry; three sisters, Thelma, Bertha and Jean, and several cousins. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at Noon on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Redland Valley Brethren in Christ Church, 3555 Lewisberry Road, York Haven, with Pastor Brian Willison officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 AM until Noon, prior to the service. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, 305 West Front Street, Lewisberry, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
