John A. Brenneman, Sr.

SPRING GROVE- John A. Brenneman, Sr., 78 of Codorus Township, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Rest Haven in York. He was the husband of Delores A. (Messersmith) Brenneman. The couple celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on April 2, 2018. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Christ’s American Baptist Church, 730 Menges Mills Rd. in Spring Grove, with a visitation from 12-1 p.m. The Reverend Dr. Diane Bentley will be officiating at the service. There will be a reception to follow at the church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting with the arrangements. Mr. Brenneman was born in Spring Grove on March 5, 1940, the son of the late George and Lovina (Smith) Trone. He was also preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Jake and Minnie Brenneman. He retired from American Chain and Cable and was a farmer. Mr. Brenneman attended Greenmount United Methodist Church in Spring Grove. He was a member of Hanover Fraternal Order of Eagles #1406, the United Steel workers Union, and Cattleman’s Association. Mr. Brenneman leaves a son, John Brenneman, Jr. and his wife Susan of Spring Grove; three daughters, Donna Zearfoss and her husband Paul, Jr. of Dallastown, Debrah Sosa and her husband Joe of Hanover, and Diane Grams and her husband Darrin of Hanover; three grandchildren, Kelsey Chilcote, Kirsten Sosa, and Devin Grams; a great grandson, Connor Chilcote; and a sister, Mary McMaster of Hanover. He was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Harry and Robert Trone; and two sisters, Hattie Trone and Lucy Nace.
