YORK – Johanna van Harskamp-Ketel, 79, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at her home. She was the wife of Hendrik van Harskamp to whom she was married for 56 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 13, 2015 at Canadochly Evangelical & Reformed Church, 4845 E. Prospect Road, York with her pastor, The Rev. William Baral officiating. Private burial will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born June 3, 1936 in Alphen aan den Rijn, South Holland, Netherlands; she was the daughter of the late Marinus and Catharina Ketel-Zekveld. Johanna immigrated to the US in 1963 and lived in Lancaster for 36 years. She and her husband then moved to York in 1999. She was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lancaster and now was a member of Canadochly Evangelical & Reformed Church. Mrs. van Harskamp was active with the Harmonaires singing group at Longstown Village, Red Hat Society, and enjoyed knitting and cooking. In addition to her husband, Mrs. van Harskamp is survived by two sons, Willem van Harskamp and wife Melanie of Vinton, VA and John E. van Harskamp and wife Alison B. of Lancaster; six granddaughters; a grandson; and a brother in law, John van Harskamp and wife Mary of Hamilton, New Zealand.
