Joanne L. Whitman

YORK - Joanne L. (Stevenson) Whitman, 72, a former Mill Hall, Clinton Co. resident, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Donald E. Whitman with whom she was celebrated 53 years of marriage on September 19, 2023.

Born December 7, 1950 in Lock Haven, Clinton Co.; a daughter of the late Frances P. “Pug” and Anna E. (McGill) Stevenson. She graduated from Bald Eagle Nittany High School in Mill Hall. Joanne had retired from York Hospital.

She loved going to her home at Treasure Beach, Fenwick Island, DE; and in her younger years, playing golf. More than anything, Joanne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, son and husband.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Whitman is survived by a son, Donald E. Whitman, II and his wife Taryn of Hudson, FL; three grandchildren, Alexander, Kyle, and Ryan; a sister, Susan M. Stevenson of Stewartstown; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Johnstonbaugh of Spring Grove; and a brother-in-law, Steven Whitman of York. She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Gary and Keith Whitman.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Pastor Cindy Killinger officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Funeral Chapel.
