Joann E. (Stover) Hoffman

YORK- JoAnn E. (Stover) Hoffman, 80, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ernest S. “Spurg” Hoffman, with whom she spent 59 years of marriage before his passing. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with The Reverend Michael Fischer, Chaplain of Country Meadows of York-West, officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will be in Saint Paul's Union Cemetery- Stoverstown. Born December 2, 1935 in Spring Grove, JoAnn was a daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Becker) Stover. She graduated from Spring Grove High School in the class of 1953. JoAnn worked as a telephone operator for many years with York Telephone & Telegraph, and later as a court transcriber. Mrs. Hoffman was a member of St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ in York New Salem. She enjoyed knitting, needle point, and many other crafts. JoAnn was an active member of the Country Meadow community and will be deeply missed by all its residents and staff. Mrs. Hoffman is survived by a son, Bryan Hoffman and his wife Lori of York; two grandchildren, Briquel Hoffman of York and Kristin Reiber and her husband Ty of Dover; two great grandchildren, Marah Townsend and Jase Reiber; a brother, Terry Stover and his wife Brenda of Myerstown; a sister, Cathy Heilman of York; two nieces, Michelle and Angela, and a nephew, Richard, Jr. In addition to her husband and parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her beloved dog Gigi.
