Joan Mildred (Placet) Berka

She was the loving wife of the late, Thomas Stephen Berka, and the companion of William W. Gauntt for 38 years. Funeral services will be private at the request of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Berka was born April 12, 1932 in Queens, NY, the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred Placet. She was a former Pool Manager for Olde York Valley Inn for 14 years until moving to Florida. While living in Florida she became the President of her condo association, Century Village, and enjoyed the outdoors. She enjoyed bike riding, reading, playing cards with friends, and swimming a mile a day. Mrs. Berka is survived by a son Thomas S. Berka of Spring Grove; a daughter, Christine M. Berka and husband, Dan Lewandowski of Carlsbad, CA; a brother, Harold Placet and wife, Rosalie of Poinciana, FL; and nieces and nephews.
