Joan M. Royer

RED LION - Joan (Murrow) Royer, 82, of Windsor Township, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at York Hospital. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion. There will be visitations from 6-8 pm on Friday and 9-10 am on Saturday, both at the funeral home. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Burial will be private in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Mrs. Royer was born in Stewartstown on August 1, 1935, the daughter of the late Homer G. “Jack” and Laura V. (Quesenberry) Murrow. She was a faithful employee and treasurer for Flinchbaugh Credit Union which merged with White Rose Federal Credit Union, where she served on the Board and was Branch Manager until her retirement. Prior to that she worked for Motor Freight Trucking, McCrory’s Distribution Center, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, and the IRS. Mrs. Royer was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dallastown and the Red Lion VFW ladies’ auxiliary. Mrs. Royer leaves two sons, Charles “Chuck” Royer and his wife Mary of York and Joe Royer and his wife Heidi of York, four grandchildren; Joey, Jr., Josh, Jake, and Jessie; three step granddaughters, Laura, Emily, and Mollie and five great grandchildren, Carter, Faith, Kailynn, Cole and Lillian. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gene and two sisters, Joyce and Jackie. Memorial contributions may be made to SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
